Programs
At Berkeley County Schools Transitional School we have multiple programs that service students from different backgrounds and education pathways. We strive to accommodate student needs and put students on a trajectory toward graduation. We work cooperatively with schools, community members, and families to keep doors open for our students. We regularly have representatives from Mountaineer Challenge Academy, military recruiters, and Community and Technical Colleges visit our program to speak with our students.
Transitional SchoolOur main program, Transitional School, serves as an alternative setting for students that have had difficulty maintaining the social and behavioral standards of their home schools.
Students are referred to us on a yearly basis where the goal is to work toward returning to their home schools. Students and families that have questions about Transitional School can contact their home schools or our office. |
OSEBerkeley County high school seniors who are at risk for dropping out or need very few credits to graduate may participate in our Out of School Education (OSE) program.
The goal of the OSE program is to give every high school senior in Berkeley County a direct pathway to graduation. OSE students complete credits they have remaining for graduation at transitional school instead of in their home school. Interested seniors should contact their home school counselors or administrators to inquire about utilizing the OSE program. Referrals to this program come directly from a student's home school counselors and administrators. |
HomeboundWhile homebound is not formally housed at Transitional School, many students on homebound utilize our services. Homebound services are provided to students with documented medical or psychological needs that are best served outside of their home school building. Students and families should contact their counselors or administrators at their home school to inquire about the Berkeley County Schools homebound program.
